You then make your way into the woods, where you will eventually reach a very steep hill where you can use the ropes to climb down to Johnathan Run Falls. Further afield, Laurel Caverns will pique your curiosity with its labyrinthine path. It's just a fifteen-minute drive from the Lodge, and its unique underground world is a must-see destination for adventure seekers. Laurel Caverns is home to Pennsylvania's largest cave, boasting over four miles of passages to explore. 


They offer guided and self-guided tours for the lighted portion of the caverns and caving or spelunking programs. The caving programs are offered on Saturdays and Sundays for individuals, but special arrangements can be made for schools or other organizations.

Things to do in the Laurel Highlands From stunning architecture and historical sites to skiing, hiking, and more the Laurel Highlands offers visitors a variety of fun and exciting activities, including: Fort Necessity Battle Field This historic site is one that marks the start of the French and Indian War, where the British, French, and Americans began their battle. This was the first military engagement and surrender by George Washington. The reconstructed Fort Necessity is located in the Great Meadow, roughly 200 yards from the visitor center.
